The purpose with the project is to develop an IoT system to automatically measure, follow-up, and analyse patient flows in real time, locate vital equipment and staff and to trace and in different ways measure management of drugs during transport. Further to evaluate approach and technology, and continuously be responsive for new needs and ideas. The intention is that the system shall be a base for commercial services.

The objective is to give Region Skåne means to increase flow efficiency and utilization of resources, further to decrease waiting time, optimize value creating time for patients and staff, and optimize reception and care. On screens may the patient flow be visualized to allow resource management in real time, maps of the premises enable direct location of vital equipment and staff, and further is continuously updated information of drugs under transport available for immediate decisions and patient security.

The developed IoT system will be used in two full scale pilots: one at the orthopaedic emergency and x-ray facilities to analyse and optimize patient flow and management of equipment and staff, and another at the blood centre to trace and follow-up the cooling chain for blood bags.

TagOn is a Vinnova collaboration project between Region Skåne, Sony and MAPCI (Lund University), Malmö Högskola, KnowIt and Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut.
